RYA Compliance
RYA Standards and Safety
Last updated: 30 April 2026
This page consolidates the current Alicante Sea Academy content related to safety standards and certificate issuance/registration process.
Vessel Maintenance and Safety Standards
At Alicante Sea Academy, training vessels are maintained to high operational and safety standards. Routine checks cover propulsion, steering, fuel, and electrical systems before and after training activity. Engine servicing follows manufacturer schedules and maintenance logs are retained.
Onboard safety equipment is monitored and renewed before expiry, including lifejackets, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, VHF radios, flares, and MOB recovery equipment. Navigation systems are checked and calibrated as needed.
Before each session, the team runs a risk assessment and provides a structured student safety briefing. For advanced training operations, additional offshore safety equipment and coding requirements are applied where relevant.
Certificate Issuance and Registration Process
For Powerboat Level 2, candidates who successfully meet course standards are issued a certificate by the training centre and recorded through relevant RYA registration channels.
For Day Skipper practical courses, successful students are awarded the corresponding RYA certificate through the recognised training centre process.
For Yachtmaster Coastal and Yachtmaster Offshore pathways, certification is dependent on successful completion of the independent practical examination process with an authorised examiner, in line with current RYA procedures.
Student Guidance
Certificate issuance always depends on meeting required practical and assessment standards. Students should bring requested documents/photos where applicable and follow joining instructions provided before the course.
