This page explains what to prepare before your course with Alicante Sea Academy. It is adapted to our local training delivery in Alicante and follows the same practical joining-instruction approach used by established RYA centres.

1. Before You Arrive

Please check your booking confirmation for the exact meeting point, reporting time, and daily schedule. Unless stated otherwise, bring photo ID and your booking details.

2. Practical Courses

Most practical training time is spent on the water. Bring layered clothing suitable for changing conditions, waterproof outerwear, and non-marking deck shoes with good grip.

Alicante Sea Academy provides approved lifejackets for onboard training sessions.

3. What To Bring

  • Waterproof jacket and practical onboard clothing
  • Soft-soled footwear suitable for deck use
  • Sun protection and personal medication if needed
  • Notebook and pen for classroom and briefing notes
  • Packed lunch or meal plan for full-day courses

4. Passport Photos and Certification Admin

For selected courses and certificate administration, passport-style photos may be required. If this applies to your booking, the academy will confirm this in advance.

5. VHF/SRC and Other Exam-Based Courses

Where applicable, pre-course study is required before classroom assessment sessions. Exam and certificate administration charges that are payable directly to the RYA are not included in course tuition fees unless explicitly stated in writing.

6. Medical and Safety Information

You must inform the academy before training starts if there are any changes to your medical condition or any information that could affect safe participation.

7. Weather and Operational Decisions

Training can continue in a wide range of normal weather conditions. If conditions are considered unsafe, the instructor or Principal will decide whether activities are adapted, postponed, or cancelled.
